Annual Show 2010 Trophey Winners

The North Cadbury Horticultural Society remains a lively and popular group after more than 25 years.  Members come from North Cadbury and the surrounding areas, meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Village Hall at 7.30pm.  For an annual subscription of £7 members enjoy a varied group of speakers through September to May which offer both helpful hints and inspiration to gardeners of all abilities; whether you enjoy working in your garden from the early hours or like to survey it from the comfort of your deckchair.    Meetings end with a cup of tea or coffee and time for a chat.

In the summer outings are arranged to beautiful gardens and other places of interest, these have included Wisley, Rosemoor and many others. Every second year a tour is made of a few members' gardens and the evening is rounded off with a barbecue.  A Christmas dinner rounds off the social calendar.

The Plant Sale in May is the perfect opportunity for members and non-members alike to buy their annuals and young vegetable plants and in August everyone, from the youngest to the eldest in the family, is welcome to participate in the Annual Show whether it be showing off their smallest ripe tomato, displaying their perfect Dahlia, baking their favourite cake, or painting a picture.  Trophies are hotly contested for individual sections of Vegetables & Fruit, Flowers, Pot Plants, Floral Arrangements, Home craft and Handicrafts and for the overall show winner.

Through the year other activities are arranged depending on member’s interests; Painting Days have proved very popular with all proceeds going to The South West Children's Hospice.

New members are most welcome just come along to a Wednesday meeting or call one of the officers listed below for further information.
